Problem

No Existing Newsletter Framework
Low user engagement with
existing communication tools due to complex navigation
Departments struggled to update and manage content on the site without manual input

Solution

Designed and created an Intranet that successfully increased site visits by 30% after the first issue
Focused on clear user flows and wireframes during design process to simplify navigation and increase engagement
Integrated a system using APIs to automate content updates, making the platform easier for departments to maintain long-term

The Process

1. Research & Goal Setting:

The process began with defining the core objectives for the newsletter. Each newsletter was created with a specific goal in mind, whether it was to raise awareness about internal department success or drive registrations for an event. Segmenting the audience also played a strong role in ensuring that the content aligned with the goals of each UIT department within the subscriber base.

2. Designing for Visual Impact:

I focused on creating a visually appealing layout that was both functional and engaging. I incorporated high-quality images and icons to break up the text, ensuring that readers weren’t overwhelmed by long blocks of content. Visual hierarchy was established with clear section headers, bold typography, and a consistent color palette that aligned with UsInTechnology’s branding.

3. Responsiveness:

I made sure that every element of the newsletter worked among on desktops and mobile devices. Fonts, images, and buttons were utilized for touchscreens, ensuring that the reading experience was enjoyable across all platforms. The layout was carefully structured to guide the user to the most important content and CTA’s.

Each issue was tested across devices and email platforms, allowing me to make adjustments based on readability and user feedback.

4. Content Integration:

To maintain reader interest, I varied the type of content in each issue. Success stories, listicles, guides, and event previews were some of the types of content used to keep the newsletter fresh.
